Indian Pass is hands down THE BEST raw bar I've had the pleasure of experiencing. The raw oysters couldn't have been fresher unless I shucked them myself. And don't overlook the delicious baked oysters and stuffed shrimp! I also have to say their honor system won me over right off the bat :)

Nice casual atmosphere with friendly staff. We came a little after the lunch rush so only waited like ten min. The beverages are self serve in a giant case of beers and sift drinks in the back. We had the gumbo, smoked fish dip, crab, and two dozen raw oysters and key lime pie for dessert. The oysters are HUGE but we managed to finish them with great determination. Cheap for the quantity and a great selection of hot sauce including a locally made brand. One caveat is no cell reception so you may not want to go if someone needs to get in touch asap.

Look, it's a hole in the wall dive and not a five star restaurant, but the seafood is out of this world. There's usually an hour wait, but this place has a cool charm about it. We came five years ago, and I've been dreaming of their food ever since. We came again today and it was just as good as I remembered. These people that complain must not understand that the waitresses aren't unfriendly--just super busy. All of the waitresses were nice and working their butts off. If sitting in plastic chairs and getting your own drinks is not for you, then go somewhere else. But we love the atmosphere here! Make sure you go in and put your name on the wait list by the register. Then grab a food menu, drink menu, and a pen. You will probably have to grab it yourself. Mark off what you want (food wise) ahead of time so you can hand it over as soon as you are seated. It takes a little while, so I recommend the fish dip appetizer which will come out immediately while you wait. Then grab some self-serve drinks from the cooler and head outside to people watch and meet new people while you wait. Drinks are self-serve on the honor system--just mark it on your drink sheet. We had stuffed shrimp, fish dip, and steamed crab legs. You get a crap-ton of crab for the price. The food was perfection and super fresh. In fact, we saw them deliver the oysters when they opened and they had just caught them. This place is a must if you are in the Cape San Blas, Port St. Joe, or Appalachicola area.

This. Is my type of place. Serve yourself beer should get five stars on its own for concept. But the oysters?! Wow!! I could have spent the whole day here just hanging out. Some friends that know the area brought us here and we are forever grateful to them. When you sit down at a table a hostess brings you two sheets of paper with check boxes: one for drinks and one for food. We promptly checked off boxes for oysters - both grilled and raw- and some burgers and hot dogs. While we waited for food to come out, we checked out the beer situation. It's basically like a huge fridge area that you'd see in a gas station. For this area, the selection was phenomenal. Quite a few choices beyond your standard domestic including some of my personal craft beer favorites. You can also opt for draft beer - ALSO serve yourself. You pick out the beer you want, crack it open, head back to your table and check off on your sheet what you picked out. I love this concept so much...never have to wait for a beer. Our food arrived in decent time, and WOW. The grilled oysters were even better than I have had in New Orleans. They are coated in garlic & parmesan and are so so tasty. I don't like raw oysters so this was a great alternative to try. My husband and I split a dozen. At the end of the meal you take you two checksheets back up to the cashier and they ring you up for what you say you had. This is so easy, simple, and efficient. I loved every moment I was here and I hope one day to return!!

found it better than most in the area, great grilled oysters, real fresh raw. Willl return if in the area
(3)Richard M.
Wow. This place is awesome. Love the honor system for the drinks, great gumbo, steamed shrimp, chargrilled oysters, stuffed shrimp, raw oysters. Everything we got was great, managed to stuff a slice of key lime before we left & that was great also. Highly recommended
(5)Andy W.
Yup...this is the real deal. Great food, atmosphere. Minus one star because it's not really clear what to do (and because this is Florida, no one is rushing to help you). Drinks are self-serve (even the beer) and on the honor system - you tally a form on the table and then take it up front to pay when you leave. Pseudo waiter service on the food...you fill out the form and give it to someone who looks like they might work there, cross your fingers, and food arrives a little later (if you remembered to fill out your correct table number, once you find it). Food though - awesome. And a laid back atmosphere you just can't beat. Once you know the lay of the land.
(4)Thomas G.
Top five restaurant of all time for me. Best oysters and steamed shrimp you will find anywhere. Great atmosphere also
(5)Robyn C.
Delicious!! I don't like shrimp (i know, who doesn't like shrimp) and it was just awesome. My dad and I both did the happy food dance as we nibbled on each other's selected dishes. The atmosphere is down home and our waitress was outstanding. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who like me, grew up in Florida, moved away and is back for a short trip looking for an old Florida experience like the joints you grew up on. I look forward to going back!!
(5)Greg S.
My kind of place. Went right from the beach to the bar at this place. Had the baked oysters and the stuffed shrimp. Lucious. Honor system for beer with a very nice selection. Friendly people behind the bar. One of my favorite places.
(5)Michelle B.
Ok, I'll admit, I'm not a big oyster fan so take my review for what it is worth. This is a great place to go for an authentic, unique experience. It is basically a shack with picnic tables and the bare essentials of a kitchen. They crank out the food and serve it to you as it is ready, which being the mother of little children I loved. I also liked that we could serve ourselves drinks on the honor system. I did try the baked oysters and managed to eat a few (they were very well seasoned) but the BBQ sandwich was delicious. My kids and husband ate the stuffed shrimp and loved them. I'm glad we went.
(4)Liam P.
Tried the baked clams. Really good, but expect to wait. Really crowded inside the seating area.
(4)Shane E.
This review may be skewed due to the fact that I'm from Chicago and I rarely get fresh seafood like this, but I'm pretty firm in my belief that this place is truly incredible. I spent a week in Cape San Blas and we came here twice, once on a Wednesday and once on a Saturday. Both times, the place was absolutely packed. Fortunately, they have a self-service (no, really) bar that allows you to grab drinks as you please and tally them up yourself. So, when you're waiting for a table, it's really easy to just hang out and have a drink or three. Food-wise: Raw oysters and cajun shrimp are the way to go. I'd recommend ordering both of these and eating family style, perhaps in addition to the crab legs. Avoid the gumbo. This spot puts a ribbon on the Cape San Blas experience.
(5)Amy J.
Omg the food is so good here!!! First of all, the address tried to take me to a different place other than the restaurant. Not sure if the address is wrong, or if my gps is messed up. Either way, the directions took us in the same direction as the joint, we ended up getting here sooner than expected. The wait was super long, but we got very lucky with a bar table within 5 min of being here. You can help yourself to the rows of beer on the far back wall while you wait, just be sure to mark it off on your ticket! We started off with the steamed shrimp, it was seasoned Cajun style, not too spicy, and no need to dip in anything. The portion was huge! Possibly 1 1/2- 2lbs for the low price. Then we had a dozen raw oysters, so yummy and fresh. The baked oysters were freakin amazing. Not too much seasoning, just the right amount mixed with parm cheese and grilled bread on the side. The crab legs were quite tasty too. They were a beautiful color, and the portion was 3 clusters! Not the typical 2. And of course, we had to try the key lime pie, and it tasted homemade with a nice thick crust. For the portion size, the freshness, and the taste, I expected the bill to be much higher than it was. Everything was so good, I can't wait to go back!!
(5)Rach G.
Really neat place. No frills. Leave smelling like seafood but I'm ok with that. Great place to relax and drink beer after a day at the beach. The place gets pretty packed so be prepared for a bit of a wait. Stuffed shrimp were yummy and peel and eat shrimp were some of the best I've had. Smaller menu-nothing fried-steamed/broiled food only. Gumbo is decent. Raw oysters were fresh. I'll definitely go back!
(4)Raymond V.
The oysters here are absolutely the best we had so far on our trip from Houston to Miami along the gulf coast. If you are nearby and like honest simple but very tasty food do not miss this place. The steamed shrimps are also very good.
(5)Ben S.
Excellent local oysters and shrimp. Honor system - southern seafood at its best. Local dive with great flavor.
(5)Victoria N.
This is my first time having oysters. Regular raw oysters aren't really my thing, BUT Parmesan baked oysters is definitely myyyyy thing!! It was amazing!! Then I got the stuffed shrimp. SO good as well. Go here. Seriously. Great drink selection as well.
(5)Theresa G.
OMG the best oysters ever!! I've eaten a lot of oysters and non were as good as this place makes them!! We will definitely be back!! Thank you Fred (of Tallahassee, FL) for the recommendation
(5)Amy L.
one of the best restaurants ever. laid back atmosphere is unimaginable. oh, and the food, the glorious food of the ocean gods is amazing. definitely a bucket list cross off destination. will always eat here when in the area. everything is divine.
(5)Drew P.
A must do. Fun and good food for a reasonable price. Killer stuffed shrimp and pretty decent crab legs. Oysters are the way to go in this place. A must do experience.
(4)Roadwarriorinheels Z.
Tasty and generous servings. We really liked the fish dip, stuff shrimp and of course oysters! All very good. The place is very unassuming and casual. Sit down, check off the menu what you want & turn it in. They bring it to you when ready. In the interim grab your own beverage from the coolers (adult or otherwise).
(4)Kevin G.
This is great place for beer and oysters. The gumbo is delicious, the place is clean, plain tables and you order using the honor system checking off box on menu form. Highly recommend!
(5)Judy D.
Baked oysters and gumbo were excellent! Rustic. Don't expect anything fancy. Close by to where we were staying on Indian Pass beach so it is more convenient than going into Port St Joe.
(5)Mod F.
We loved this little place - the crab stuffed shrimp and oysters were great and Stella on draft is always nice. Friendly service. Our fave spot in the area.
(5)Cherie C.
My family chose this restaurant due the great reviews on Yelp. We were very disappointed. We went on a Saturday night and there was some type if tailgating party. Fans of different teams were loud and obnoxious and being mean to each other. The waitress was not attentive and it took forever to get our food which was mediocre. We had waited an hour and a half for baked oysters and were already done eating when another server brought them to us and we explained we thought they had been forgotten. So she says she will just give them away...and does so to the next table. This place does not seem to care about your dining experience nor does it care about your return. I will never return. Spent 79.00 for a terrible experience and mediocre shrimp.
(1)Vanessa A.
I just keep coming back! I actually stayed at Mexico beach this time, but made sure to drive over and indulge. Their seafood is always fresh and perfectly cooked, the prices can't be beat, and the atmosphere is so fun/casual that it leaves you feeling like family. Seriously, all of the drinks are serve yourself, even draft! Everything is on the honor system, they now give you a tally sheet to make remembering a bit easier if you can't quite keep up. To order food, they give you a separate Tally sheet to turn in. The menu is very limited, but when I go for seafood, I'm not concerned about all of the sides anyways! 4 Clusters of crab legs were $19.99, a half pound of steamed shrimp was $12.99, and the stuffed shrimp was 12 for $13.99. All of it was delicious. I can't remember exactly what the beers were, somewhere around $3, and the pitchers were a GREAT deal. All in all, this place is exceptional and is always a must when I'm anywhere near Port St. Joe!
(5)Morgan M.
This hole in the wall is definitely worth a visit! It was packed when we got there but no worries, as they have an 'honor bar' and you help yourself to beer (draft and bottled) or soda while you wait on the porch. There were 30 people (2 groups of 5, 2 groups of ten) ahead of us and we still waited less than 15 minutes. We were seated at a large family-style table with another couple and had oysters (huge!), stuffed shrimp (tasty) and gumbo (solid, if nothing to write home about). I saw many people enjoying the peel and eat shrimp, which looked like generous portions, and I was pleased to see a decent selection of cheap, picky-kid friendly options (for when we eventually bring our kids on vacation to the area). We plan to stay in the Cape San Blas area next time we're in the area and this will definitely be our go-to option!
(4)Tom G.
The freshest, saltiest, tastiest oysters I have ever eaten. This place is a total dive, and it's been there forever. The honor system for beers is cool; get your own out of the cooler and keep a tally. The food is wonderful, right-out-of-the-ocean fresh and prepared perfectly. Definitely worth the trip.
(5)Chuck E.
Went again tonight. Had the stuffed shrimp and it was a bit salty like last year. But if you like straight ahead shrimp, crab and basic seafood, its good. Everyone in the group loved their meal. Beer is on the honor system.
(4)Ted D.
Quirky raw bar owned by a decided Gator Fan who never looked up or grunted when we walked in. Fortunately the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Serve yourself from the cooler (sorry no fresh brewed ice tea) and keep a tally of your consumption on a provided tally sheet. We went for lunch on a weekday so we missed the music, etc. We had oysters on the half, peel and eat shrimp, baked oysters, gumbo and stuffed shrimp. On the half and baked were very good (can you say another dozen on the half please) as well as the shrimp. Gumbo was a bit lacking in solid ingredients but had a nice roux. The showstopper was the butter drenched crab stuffed shrimp - simply outstanding. Worth the drive.
(4)Teryn Bonime Ventura Realtor B.
Fun time for lunch. Disappointing the use in recyclable plates, forks etc. I asked why and was told because they don't do any recycling in that area. ALL THE MORE REASON to use biodegradable products. Honor "bar" when you pull a beer out of the cooler! On busy nights it can take hours to get a table but hey you'll meet lots of fun people from or visiting the area!
(3)Amanda J.
Absolutely the best seafood place in town. Love the atmosphere and the staff. A must go to to every time we're here.
(5)Tucker B.
The menu here is very simple: 3 kinds of oysters (raw, steamed, baked), steamed crab legs, steamed shrimp, stuffed shrimp (then other stuff for the kids). What we had: Baked oysters, steamed oysters, crab legs, steamed shrimp. THE STAR: Steamed shrimp! Best shrimp I've had ever anywhere. Oysters are the best. Can't get better anywhere.
(5)Ashley M.
Super chill. Clean. Friendly. Raw oysters are the best i've had hands-down.
(5)Joseph C.
Great seafood. We had raw oysters, crab legs and steamed shrimp. All excellent and large quantities of crab legs and shrimp. Our friends had a cheeseburger, which they rated as fair. Has a very limited menu but a great place if you like oysters, shrimp and crab legs. Another person had stuffed shrimp, which she thought was very good as well.
(5)J R.
We visited here on our last day at the cape and wish we would have gone here sooner! The food was great- had the steamed crab legs, stuffed shrimp and regular shrimp. You serve your own beer and just keep a tally on a sheet of what you had- that was really neat, shows the owner trusts people! The only thing I wish they did was provide some type of warmer for the food- the steamed dishes got cold rather quickly; but I would highly recommend visiting this place! Just know the sign outside says "trading post" not raw bar so you can miss it if you're looking for that specific signage
(5)Ross M.
Every time I'm in north Florida I make it a point to stop at the raw bar. I love the beer honor system and crab claws. This is a must go to restaurant.
(5)Tracey M.
Can I tell you how much we love this place!!!?? Its always the highlight of our vacation to the Forgotten Coast. Here's a tip...don't plan on getting there and quickly eating. You'll have to wait for a table. But that's okay! Just go inside, grab a cold one, then go back outside to hang out with your friends, old & new, while waiting on your table. Oysters, shrimp, crab legs and beer. What more could you want??? And yes, the menu is small. I like it that way. Its a no frills, fresh good seafood, cold drinks, fun & friends kinda place.
(5)Sarah N.
Delicious crab legs! Great concept for a restaurant of get your own drinks. Very mellow, no fuss. Can't wait to come back and try more
(5)Tanya O.
Staff is friendly, and the outside porch is nice while you wait for your seat. It's fun to pick out your beer from the huge cooler inside, on the honor system. The seafood is good and fresh, but the menu is very small.
(3)Deb S.
Not crowded at all at 1:40 p.m. on a Thursday. Unique honor system/self-serve for beverages (go visit the big cooler in the back and write down what you consumed on the beverage form on your table). Oysters is their specialty but more pricey than other nearby towns ($75 for lunch for 3 people with one beer each, and that is not including the tip). Service was slow and sloppy with people only at our table and one other (even with form system to order, waitress overlooked items so we then had to ask again to get everything served). Supposedly a "historic" event to go here, so do it to say you did, but doubt we'll be back. Heard this was "the" place to go in the area, and may have been in the past, but claim to fame nowadays seems to be a connection to a band called The Currys who play live there some nights.
(3)Rob B.
This is hands down our favorite place to eat in the area. A dive in the best sense of the word, Raw Bar serves fresh fish in heaping piles with great beer to wash it down. The restaurant is setup for different groups to sit together at large tables, which generally cause me to go into mild panic attacks. For whatever reason (possibly the beer) this has never bothered me at Raw Bar. We usually order the steamed shrimp and crab legs, and finish up with an order of raw or baked oysters. If you go at night they often have live music outside and even occasionally have a pickers night where whoever wants brings and instrument and jams outside. I can't recommend this place enough - it's even worth the drive from surrounding areas to experience it.
(5)April B.
Went here while on vacation and loved it! I'm not a big raw oyster fan but I heard they're good. However, the baked oysters were amazing!!!! I couldn't get enough of the shrimp and they kept bringing more! Hang on to your bottle caps! That's how they know what to charge you for. :)
(5)Emily S.
Awesome, awesome, awesome! Simple set-up: delicious food and grab your own beers (or drinks) from the cooler. A very laid back and relaxing eating experience. We visited 2 days on our rainy trip to the Cape. Both times we had the smoked fish dip for an appetizer. My husband who is picky about dips loved this one, as it had a great smoky flavor and was fresh. I tried the baked oysters and they are just as great as the other raves on this page. If you like shrimp and crab, the stuffed shrimp is the only way to go! Don't pass up this place while you're in town!!
(5)Gary B.
Great little place in the middle of no where. I love the help yourself beer selection, draft and bottled. Great atmosphere. Wine selection was limited and pricy Food was really great, Little pricy though and everything is purchased frozen except the oysters. A little disappointed with the gumbo though. We will return next time we are back this way.
(4)Christina J.
We heard that this was the place to go in the Cape San Blas area. Service was friendly and I liked the self-serve beer concept but other than that I wasn't impressed. The place was a dive (which I usually appreciate) but incredibly overpriced. We paid almost $50 for a bowl of gumbo, two domestic beers, one dozen oysters and some stuffed shrimp. No sides. We left still feeling hungry. It seems like the non-seafood items (burgers, hot dogs, etc.) are pretty cheap but I can't go to the beach and not order seafood. I had the baked oysters and they were COVERED in cheese. I was expecting some cheese, but that was basically all I could taste because the Parmesan flavor (that came out of a can) was so strong. And the oysters were pretty small in size. I've definitely had better in the Atlanta are.
(2)kenny j.
Excellent seafood served fresh, hot, and in large portions at reasonable prices. Self-serve beer? You bet. This place would give Anthony Bourdain a boner. So great!
(5)Mike W.
Found this great place this summer. Baked oysters and steamed shrimp best anywhere. Must go back again and again.
(5)Em D.
I saw God. Thought the raw oysters were heavenly - huge, briney, ocean-fresh - and the steamers perfection enhanced. Then I had the baked: garlic -and-parmesan encrusted, and I'm a believer. We felt a little guilty for picking every last bit of cheesy crust off the shells until our waitress said she's had people licking theirs clean.
(5)Susan R.
So disappointed!!! After reading all of the reviews, raving about this place,we couldn't wait to drive over from St. George Island to try the seafood. What a mistake! Baked oysters are tooooo salty. The gumbo is too expensive for the small cup they give you. Our steamed shrimp were mealy. If it were't for the saltine crackers we would have left hungry! The lack of sides with the seafood is ridiculous. They need to add some coleslaw or French fries or something besides the boiled corn so you won't leave hungry. Won't be back!
(2)Kara W.
When all the other seafood joints are serving sad, tiny oysters, these guys are still serving up the best of the bay. The menu is simple, as is the prep - a little garlic, a little parmesan - but the flavor is absolutely incredible. Not a fan of oysters? Fear not! The stuffed shrimp are as amazingly delicious as the oysters. They have a kids menu that includes hot dogs, grilled cheese, etc if the little ones aren't into seafood. Grab a beer from the cooler, have a seat at one of their many plastic family-style tables, and prepare to eat some of the best seafood you'll ever have in your life.
(5)Jessica M.
This is our favorite place to go around Cape San Blas!!! Everything is amazing. Very casual and easy dining. Nothing fancy, just great food. We've had the Cajun shrimp, raw oysters, baked oysters and crab legs. All...amazing! Mm mm mmmm.
(5)dawn t.
No oysters! Thank you EPA for messing with the local economy! We had steamed snow crab legs. It satisfied our pallet, but it's the atmosphere and cold beer that you come for. : )
(4)Rita D.
Love oysters and draft beer in a friendly, casual restaurant? You've got to try this place! How can you not love a place where you get your own beer on tap, by the mug or pitcher, then you just tell them what you had when you're ready to pay the bill? Did I mention that all the draft beer is $7 a pitcher? We tried their Raw Bar Red, which was perfect for our meal. We had oysters on the half-shell and baked. Both were good; my only complaint is that the baked ones took what seemed like forever. We didn't want to finish the raw ones before the baked ones arrived, so we just sat and chatted with our table mates while we sipped on our beer. Oh yes, part of the atmosphere of the place is sharing a table with people you don't know, but who will probably become fast friends before you're done. After all, they're enjoying this place just like you are!
(4)Gwen F.
Great casual place..enjoyed the shrimp topped with crab and broiled..delicious..put a shirt over your bathing suit and head over..servers are characters but go with the joint..fun
(4)Tamara M.
The much-sought-after, seldom bestowed five-star rating! Indian Pass Raw Bar, for what it is, is as good as it gets. This simple, laid-back place is a gem. We were spending the weekend in Cape San Blas, and choices are slim without driving, so Indian Pass was a logical choice. The oysters were amazingly tasty, and every dozen was thirteen (we had a dozen each) for $7.95! We also ordered the crab which, though pricier, was well worth it. Tons of legs, tons of sweet, tender meat. Everything was served on cafeteria trays, and beer is self-serve from the big coolers in the back. The waitstaff was busy but friendly. As it was Saturday night, there was live music being played on the porch. There were even a few people dancing. I'd return in a heartbeat if ever in the area again!
(5)Nancy B.
The last time I went here was in 2007. This place is one of two reasons I decided to come back to this area for my summer vacation. Three seafood items on the menu: oysters, shrimp, and crab legs. Well four items if you count the gumbo. I have had all 4 and all are EXCELLENT. Pitchers of beer are $5.00. Your choices are limited to 4 domestics though but that is not a complaint. You can have your pick out of anything to drink in the convenience store type coolers. So get what you want and then find a table! I think the prices are VERY cheap too. My husband ordered crab legs and he got a GIGANTIC portion for $19.00. Oysters (baker's dozen) is under $10. They also have burgers, bbq, and hot dogs. Someone mentioned that the wait staff was unfriendly so I came prepared with my NYer attitude but nothing could be further from the truth. They were all REALLY nice. It does get very busy so we went there 3 times in one week all at 5:00 and were able to find a seat. The waitress told me that Tuesdays and Fridays are their busiest days due to tourist vacation rentals. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays. I am already planning my next trip back.
(5)Jerry E.
5 Stars all-around!! We ordered everything on the menu except the gumbo...but only b/c we were full by then! My girlfriend normally doesn't oysters but said the oysters at this place was freaking Amazing & Fresh!! Cold beer from the freezer or Self-Served beer on tap. $5.00 Pitchers - Self-Serve! Usually a small band playing outside. This place is in the of nowhere but its definitely worth the drive to get there!! While in the area, check out Cape San Blas for practically untouched, secluded beaches!!
(5)Sonya S.
On a leisure drive after spending a few hours at the beach in Port St. Joe, I found this place via Yelp. Gotta love Yelp!. We parked on the gravel-y lot and walked in. Hot day, weary souls. The large wall of refrigeration kept the beer bottles nice and cold. Pick your favorite. Or, just choose one of the three draft beers and pour it yourself ($5 for a pitcher!). The oysters are caught locally from Apalachicola Bay. Very good. We got two dozen oysters and a pound of peel and eat shrimp. All the hot sauce your heart desires. The smell of delicious things cooking (steamed Oysters Rockefeller!) perfumed the smallish joint. The place is hopping!. This is an informal and laid back place inside and out. After we were done eating we sat out on the porch along with the locals and vacationers and listened to musical entertainment. Make yourself comfortable. You're at home. Chill out and enjoy.
(5)Rob K.
Price to Quality is huge.
(5)Kathy M.
Wow! Great gumbo, great oysters and great stuffed shrimp!! Very friendly staff. Felt like a hometown gem. Prices were good. Can't wait to come back.
(5)Gretchen S.
LOVED this place! Perfect stop on our drive around the area exploring the "forgotten coast'. Choose your own beer (wine, soda and other drinks too) from the self-service coolers and have a seat. Baked oysters and a few cold ones, local atmosphere and football on the TV. Exactly what we needed and more than we could ask for!
(4)Adele n.
This crowded snow-bird haven has a party atmosphere that's kind of fun and kind of grating. Picture overly tan ladies sipping wine coolers and shaking it with their mustachioed, beer-drinking husbands while young moms try to herd their whiny, sunburned broods. We were there on a Saturday and there was very entertaining live music-- an older guy playing really silly country songs for the waiting throngs. Beers are serve yourself from convenience-store coolers or taps. White dudes were getting drunk. There was a hunting show on the TVs over the bar. Raw oysters are delicious and under $10 per dozen. It's super casual, so feel free to show up a little sandy after a day at the beach.

Rode my harley from alabama today and stopped in to see what all the fuss is about. I got lost, using my GPS, and their sign is pretty faded so I drove past the place 3 times before I realized it was the only business for miles. I sat at the bar and downed a beer from the cooler (pretty good selection, nothing to different, but good all around beach brews) as I watched the shuckers shuck my oysters. Can't get any fresher than that. I ordered a slice of their key lime pie and pretty much came to the conclusion that it was the best pie ever (although not home made). I grabbed a beer to go for the beach and was out the door at 20 bucks for a dozen oysters, 2 beers, and a slice of pie and a smile on my face, because the service was friendly and the waitress even taught me some things I didn't know about oysters. Pretty cool place.

We were recently in town again, and despite my mother-in-law saying that some of the seafood at the restaurant is frozen (not fresh), we decided to check it out. Due to some outside circumstances of the day and after pulling up and seeing some frozen seafood boxes sitting right outside the restaurant door where you park, we decided to skip it this time around. Just an update to keep my reviews fair and accurate. On the other hand, we have always enjoyed the food each time we've ate here, so I don't think it's too much of a deterrent. :-)

This is a must if you like oysters & shrimp and a fun place to eat. We went on a Friday night and had a little bit of a wait but it was fun sitting and listening to karaoke.

Fantastic place. Out of the way, but well worth the search. Best oysters (fresh or baked) around. Seriously. Melt in your mouth good. Gumbo is tasty, too. Enjoy the self-serve beer!

I am dreaming of this place as I am trying to get through another Chicago winter. Everything in this place is terrific! I love getting the beer from the tap and my kids get excited to see the huge coolers filled with pop. I had never eaten oysters and was addicted after the Raw Bar. They have live music outside. It is super low key just like everything around it.

OMG I WANT TO CRY THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD! (okay, I might cry just cause of all the preggo hormones, regardless, this place is AMAZING!) First of all, the amount of food you get is JUST perfect! My family and I all ordered the bucket of crab legs... to die for! My fave little addition to this would be that they top your crab legs with fantastical shrimp! Its like ice cream with sprinkles, only its crab with shrimp... oh heaven! I love that you just select your own soda or beer (even walking up to the tap to pour yourself a refill of your favorite brew - you dont see that in Cali that's for sure!) I also love the bread and saltines with hot sauce... just a nice little treat while you are waiting for the best crab to ever touch your mouth. Every time I come out to this part of the country, I dream about going here for weeks ahead of time, and for weeks after I have left. NO place is as good as this. When i am in town, you may find me here a few nights in a row, and if it were up to me, I would just eat here the entire time, but alas, there are other members of my family who do not need to eat only crab. (sillies!)

Great oysters! Great shrimp! Tons of crab legs per serving! Freindly staff and customers, and a must go if in the area.

Don't miss this place. Really friendly staff ... Make you feel like a local. Menu is about as simple as it gets ... Primarily shrimp and oysters. Steamed shrimp was excellent. Really well seasoned. They've got a wall cooler stuffed with beer plus 3 or 4 taps on the wall. Customers are told to help themselves as needed and just keep track of what they drink for checkout. Steamed shrimp and cold beer ... Need I say more. The Forgotten Coast at it's best.

Nothing special here but it seems to have a cult and local following. Oysters were acceptable and steamed shrimp as it should be. Wine cooler or beer from the fridge. Everything slightly overpriced compared to other places. Basically a dive bar with oysters. Friendly service just not our cup of tea.

Amazing. The diviest atmosphere--which, as a rule, I tend to like. Memorable-for-life oysters! At good prices, even. Baked good. Raw better. Steamed out of this world. The best briny-style oysters I have ever had. And I'm about to turn 57, and I have a long memory for good oysters. The seafood gumbo was excellent, too. But try some steamed oysters with a Rolling Rock beer. Seafood heaven. It's out in the middle of nowhere, and you need to find your way there.

An incredible oyster bar in an out of the way location. It's not on a main road. Once you find it, you'll feel more like you're hanging out at a house party than dining at a restaurant. Simple wooden tables, piles of peel n' eat shrimp, beers pulled straight from coolers of ice, and freshly-shucked oysters. Everything is raw, steamed or baked. Nothing frozen or fried as I recall. Great place to watch a Gators basketball or football game. Or, make it a pit stop on your way to St Joseph's Peninsula, easily one of the top ten beaches in the country. It's a state park so it has withstood the march of development on the panhandle. A gorgeous unspoiled beach with powdery white sand that is typical of the Gulf Coast.

I don't know what to say that hasn't been said already. OK, I'll try, everything is super simple, the menu, the food, the atmosphere. Simple and perfect. You get a ton of crab legs. The raw oysters are delicious and so are the baked. But which I liked best was pouring my own beer. Go here, and don't try to use your GPS, it will only get you lost. Better to call for directions. Don't forget to check out the map by the bathroom.

Indian Pass Raw Bar has not changed even after for a rebuild in 2005 after hurricane Dennis. Wow, the best raw oysters I have ever had. I was first there 25 years ago and remembered the taste and have compared so many times and never achieved the equal flavor until my visit last week. I made the 25 mile drive from our vacation home, dragging my family with me, just to see if they were as good as before and I was not disappointed a bit. If you are in the area and love good oysters make it a point to stop in. You will be greeted like family. Go to cooler and get your drink and your order will be taken soon. My group had burgers and crab legs and raved on everything. I was there for the oysters and only wish I had room for more than 2 dozen. Just a fun place!

Sometimes less is more, as is the case at Indian Pass Raw Bar. This is one of those dive places that should be featured on a travel show or a Food Network show if it hasn't been already. It occupies an old gas station/trading post in the middle of nowhere just outside of Cape San Blas on 30-A. First things noticed upon walking in--classic rock music, the beer cooler in the back (like you'd see in a gas station) where you grab your own beer (good bottled beer selection), the white plastic picnic tables and chairs, the orange-and-blue tile floor, and the small souvenier area. This place is true Gator territory with Gator paraphanalia plastered everywhere, complete with a huge autographed Tim Tebow poster. But don't let that scare you, the staff is amazingly sweet and laid back (of course, we weren't wearing any Georgia gear at the time so who knows what would have happened if we had been? :) The simple menu is posted on the wall over the bar -- oysters (raw, steamed, baked), crab legs and steamed shrimp on the left, and burgers & hot dogs on the right. No fries or hush puppes, just go grab yourself bag of chips from the shelf near the front door. We of course got an order of 12 raw oysters, which came to the table in a matter of seconds. They were served on a plain old flat orange cafeteria tray--no plates, no fancy metal container with ice. They were very fresh and big. We followed the oysters with steamed crab legs which were equally as good as the oysters. Still craving more oysters, we ordered the baked oysters which were drenched in parmesan cheese, butter and lemon juice. Dee-lish! These were served with a big piece of Texas Toast. Overall a fantastic, fun, feel-good place that you must visit if you find yourself anywhere between Panama City and Appalachicola! Highly recommended.

My family has been vacationing in this area for years. We never miss The Raw Bar!! Nothing fried here. The best raw oysters and steamed shrimp around... anywhere!! You will not be disappointed.

SLOW service and mediocre food. I know beach pace of life is a little slower, but when there is only one other table, you would expect to get A. attentive service and B. all of your meal at once. We got our corn nearly 15 minutes before our crab legs. We sat for about 20 minutes with crab leg mess on our hands with no paper towels/napkins. Finally we had to ask the waitress as she was doing something else if she could please get us more. The butter for the corn/crab tasted like movie theater butter for popcorn. There's not much in this area in the way of competition, so perhaps that explains why they get away with this.
